Turntables On The Hudson opens their account for 2011 on Friday 7th with regular deck general Nickodemus joined by Adam Gibbons and Max Pela. Gibbons, from Boston, Massachusetts, is a freelance designer and a photographer for URB magazine by day, but undercover of dark he’s known for deeply soulful sets that blend Afro-centric Latin grooves with spiritual messages and jazzy rhythms. A part of the innovative Uhuru Afrika / Fela Lives! Community - a multi-sensory traveling tribute to President Fela Anikulapo Kuti that was born from the desire to advance his message and honor his musical innovation, social consciousness and revolutionary activism… Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Latin America’s new Mecca for electronic music, Max Pela is similarly another disciple of the Uhuru Afrika / Fela Lives! movement. Starting his musical journey as a percussionist his DJing sets incorporate a rich and diverse selection of house and its many genres, making the duo the perfect accompaniment to any TOTH night.
